Unity in the Harvest

UNITY in the Harvest
A few scriptures about the importance of unity…
• Psalm 133:1—See how good and how pleasant it is for brothers (and sisters) to live together in unity! • Ephesians 4—bear one another in love—keep unity in bond of peace • Nehemiah 4—people had a mind to work together • Philippians 2:2—have same love, one accord in one mind • I Corinthians 1:10—no divisions among you • II Corinthians 13:11—be of the same mind • I Peter 3:8—be like-minded • Proverbs 17:14—stop contention before quarreling breaks out • I Corinthians 12:12—one body—many members • Philippians 4:2—think the same way • James 3—self-seeking, every evil thing is present • Philippians 1:27—stand FIRM in ONE spirit • Colossians 3:14—walk in love • Matthew 18:19—agree together • Acts 1:14—in one accord • Acts 5:12—all with one accord • Romans 12:5—one Body in Christ • Romans 14:19—follow after peace—build one another up • Philippians 2:3—nothing done through selfish ambition or conceit • II Timothy 2:24-25—gentle towards all; stop running Satan’s errands ¬

Individuality is the enemy of Unity in the Body of Christ. ¬ Individuality is the hard-outer layer surrounding the inner spiritual life—the one that brokenness tries to pulverize into powder. Individuality shoves others aside, separating and isolating people. Our individuality must be surrendered to God so that we may be brought into fellowship with Him. (Oswald Chambers) ¬ Individuality counterfeits spirituality just like lust counterfeits love. ¬ Individuality is independence and self-will. This hinders our spiritual growth more than anything. If you continually say, I cannot surrender to God or I will not do xyz. The Holy Spirit narrows this down to one thing—every time—Matthew 5:23-24. It is our individuality (human spirit) that refuses to be reconciled to our brothers and sisters. (Oswald Chambers) ¬ When we are in unity with our brothers and sisters, we pray for them. The people we pray for, we usually do not fight against—in words or deeds. ¬ To be in unity with the body of Christ, we must be in unity with God. The only path toward this is for ALL of us to be willing to give up our right to ourselves—to surrender to His will for the body and for the Kingdom. Matthew 16:24—If anyone desires to come after ME, let him DENY himself…

James 3:13-18—13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by his good conduct that his deeds are done in gentleness of wisdom. 14But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, don’t boast and don’t lie against the truth. 15This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and demonic. 16For where jealousy and selfish ambition are, there is confusion and every evil deed. 17But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

When we begin to work together in the Body of Christ, an amazing transformation takes place. Once we surrender our rights to ourselves, our true personal nature begins responding to God. We no longer care WHO gets the credit—just to work together to see souls saved—the purpose of the church: The Great Commission.

Some at VWC have great fear—fear of not being good enough, fear of not being accepted, fear of being abandoned, fear of not being loved, fear of being left out, fear of not knowing what’s going on, fear of not being used—whatever it might be, Jesus will heal you. Fear breeds all types of insecurities and oppression. Jesus can heal you from the strongholds in your life that keep you bound to individuality and from truly experiencing God’s kingdom through the body of Christ—and UNITY!!

Our prayer for this weekend and beyond: Lord, we cast down every evil imagination and every high thing that would exalt itself against the knowledge of You, oh God. I bring every thought into captivity, right now, to the obedience of Jesus Christ. I will crucify my flesh today and realize that I am not an island to myself but rather, I am stronger when I am in unity with my brothers and my sisters in Christ. I will pray until I am of one accord and of one mind with the body of Christ. I will trust God and therefore will trust that my brothers and sisters are for me, my ministry and anything good that God chooses for my life. I realize I am NOT in competition with anyone in the body of Christ. I realize that I do not fight against flesh and blood so I commit to FIGHT against every spirit that would oppose my God-given family and this church. I am choosing to walk in God’s love and will demonstrate His love to my brothers and sisters. I choose to be perfected here—in this safe place, this God-given family. I will choose peace and will not allow strife or any discord to cause disunity in this God-given body. I choose to be a bearer of peace and will work together with my God-given family to HAUL in the harvest that God has promised Victory. I am complete in Christ. I am enough. I choose to bless my brothers and sisters. Today, I fight for my church, my brothers and sisters and the harvest! Together with my family, we seek a Holy-Ghost outpouring and flood of your
Spirit. We speak a GREAT harvest to this entire area—in Jesus name!
